We're reclaiming the art of dreaming as a vital tool for innovation and positive change. The dreams of yesterday are being reimagined today - evolving into new, bold visions that inspire action and create real impact. This is the nature of innovation: building the future through intentional thinking and collaborative progress. Let's embrace dreaming now and transform our shared vision into tangible reality.
Future authoring Surrey
TLDR: Future authoring is the first step to creating our intended future.
One of the powerful Design Thinking methods is future authoring. The concept of writing the future which the designer envisons or dreams up, as though it is already happened. It's real. This article is a future authored vision for Surrey in 2035, outlining all the aspects of life in Surrey that have been transformed through innovation, technology, and community collaboration. Read it as though it is already 2035.
Let's remember ...
TLDR: There are many areas in which we can make a difference.
We want to innovate in area of life which are pertinent to Surrey and inspired by Surrey. Life in Surrey is clean, healthy, connected, friendly, natural and versatile. We want to preserve and enhance these qualities through further innovation. True breakthroughs will come from areas which initially feel weird, highly unusual and even seemingly irrelevant. Yet those are the areas which we need to explore the most.
Areas of interest
TLDR: We can focus on farming, nature, wellness, transportation, energy and community.
Distributed nature of Silicon Surrey means that we can also distribute what we focus on both in terms of themes as well as implementation. Take AI for example. What if AI capacity was distributed across Surrey? What if farming products were fully distributed across Surrey? What if wellness provision and capabilities were fully distributed across Surrey? This kind of thinking potentially brings about new kind of ideas around what seem like typical domains.
What healthy future is like
TLDR: For truly healthy and successful future we should think holistically.
Holistic thinking is the way forward in the world. Ecosystems first. Healthy future starts from healthy and clean environment. Startups should innovate to extend that healthy environment and where necessary enable creation of the healthy environment where it is missing. What does a river filtering product look and work like? How do we create something which helps keep our rivers clean? What about something that helps monitor the fish population in the river? Water quality? What about river transporation which enables safe, enoyable and sustainable river travel while maybe also cleaning the river in the process?
